Before it was the name of our first charity collaboration, Last Night A DJ Saved My Life was a 1982 dance record — and then, rather more importantly, it became a UK-registered charity (no. 1142478) with a mission that fits on a sticker: building hope through music. The foundation channels the energy, audiences and generosity of the dance music industry into grassroots projects for children and young people, both in the UK and in developing countries.

What the foundation actually does

Rather than running one big programme, the charity operates a family of named initiatives, each attacking a different gap in a young person's life. A few of the projects that made us want to work with them:

  • Get Equipped — putting DJ and production equipment into the hands of young people who have the talent but not the kit.
  • Set For Love — harnessing DJ sets and events to raise funds for children in need.
  • Back On Track — helping young people who have fallen out of education or opportunity find a route back.
  • Smiles For Life and Have A Drink On Us — wellbeing and clean-water initiatives for children in developing countries.
  • Street To Street and festival partnerships — taking fundraising to where the music community already gathers.

How a dancefloor becomes a donation

The foundation's fundraising model is its superpower. It mobilises DJ and musician networks, festival crowds and industry partners — names like Pioneer DJ, Point Blank and Technics have stood behind its campaigns — so that the same night out that fills a dancefloor can fill a well, a classroom or an equipment locker. It is fundraising that meets people where they already are, doing something they already love.

Why Heaven Eco Hub chose them

When we designed our charity collaboration programme — a 100,000,000 Heaven token pledge with a $0.01 buy-back per token, funded by a dedicated slice of ad revenue from every app we ship — we needed a partner with three qualities: a track record of delivering grassroots projects, causes that our apps could be meaningfully dedicated to, and the credibility to hold us publicly accountable.

Last Night A DJ Saved My Life ticked all three. Their water and wellbeing work matches the Water Wells dedication that most of our apps carry. Their youth and education programmes rhyme with the coding grants funded by Luna Heaven Code Studio. And their industry standing means that when we publish progress numbers, an organisation with a reputation of its own is checking them.

Partner with people who were doing the work long before you arrived, and who will keep doing it long after the press release.

Where this goes next

The collaboration is live: the pledge is recorded, the charity has its own real-time portal showing the revenue pool and buy-back progress toward the $1,000,000 target, and the first apps are already contributing. As projects get funded, we will tell those stories here — the wells, the meals, the kit handed to a teenager who is about to be better at this than all of us. Music got this charity started. Software keeps the beat going.
